Assessment Generator offers three different ways to score your assessments: Simple, Type, and Multi-Type. Below, we’ll go into more detail about each one to help you make the most informed choice as to which type of assessment will work best for you! When you need to generate one single, overall score for your assessment, you’ll want to choose a Simple assessment.
Don’t be fooled by the name, though – simple assessments have a very straightforward scoring process, but their results still pack a real punch! A Simple assessment assigns a score value to each question that you ask. At the end of the assessment, those scores add up to one final, overall score for the assessment.
When displaying your respondents’ assessment results, you can show scores as point values, or as a percentage of the total possible score.
Simple assessments are a great way to provide automatic feedback based on scores. Depending on a respondent’s score, you can tailor your messaging and products to where they’re at now. You can also set up as many different score bands as you’d like! For example, there could be “high”, “medium”, and “low” result bands, allowing you to provide different score interpretations for those whose scores fall into the range of each band.
With an Advanced or Private Label account, you can automatically redirect respondents to a specific page on your website based on their score.

A Type assessment assigns a respondent to one of several types or categories. Think of these like a sorting hat… for your business!
First, you create different categories in your assessment, and the score for each question is assigned to one of those categories. After answering all of the assessment questions, respondents will receive a separate score for each category and are assigned to a category based on their highest or lowest-scoring type. You can provide a type description for their assigned type, for all of the types, or for none of them. You can also decide to share an overall score for the assessment.

Taking things one step further, a multi-type assessment rates a respondent in each of several types or categories. When using a multi-type assessment, you’re able to provide feedback in multiple areas based on the respondent’s score in each area. Perhaps you want to measure how much assistance a client will need across different lifestyle areas. With a multi-type assessment structure, you can gather this information and follow up. For example, if you’re a life coach, you can tell a new or prospective client that they’re rating low on financial literacy, but high on interpersonal skills.
With this knowledge, you’re able to share relevant resources – or programs you offer – as a solution. That extra level of information allows you to provide another level of support and feedback. It’s a win-win!
